Tenchi: (VO) These men and women are... Roomies! (End theme song, with a picture of all 16 contestants standing with Flame Terminal behind them in the background.) = = = = = = = = = = Digital Frontier's Reunion Special (07.01.03) Day One Hundred Thirty-Five (May 20, 2003) Run a videotape of Tenchi arriving back in Tokyo at Shibuya Station with a laptop in hand. But before he can board a train, he meets up with someone. Using a link cable, they transform information... which we assume is the final vote tally. The person that is receiving the notes is none other than Cassie Banks, the girl who always hosts the Reunion Specials so well... well, well enough to keep her job, anyway. Tenchi: I'm entrusting these with you! Don't lose them! Cassie: I've got 'em! Don't worry about me! Once the transfer is complete, Cassie runs off to catch the train Tenchi was going to board. It's heading straight for the Hongo campus of Tokyo University. ====== The large audience waiting at Yayoi Auditorium on campus applaud as Cassie gets off the train and runs onto Tokyo University. With her laptop in hand, she bolts for the auditorium entrance, running as fast as she can in her sneakers. The applause becomes even louder as Cassie enters, running down the aisle to the stage. On stage are all of the Roomies, minus one (which will be explained shortly), anxious like the rest of the world to find out who this season's winner is. Cassie finally gets onto the stage and waves to the greatful audience as she heads for her chair, which is facing the sixteen Roomies. She plugs her laptop in as a screen lowers from the back of the stage. It lights up as the room gets dark enough for everyone to see the screen. The names of the four finalists: Amy Mizuno, Rally Vincent, Tally Onodera, and Yugi Mutou, are listed. Cassie: Welcome everyone to the Reunion Special for Roomies 3: Digital Frontier! The audience applauds loudly, as friends and family of the finalists are the loudest of all, cheering for their loved one to win. Cassie: Let's get down to business, shall we? We have four lucky individuals who have a chance to win a lot of money. So, let's get to it! Cassie starts typing away on her laptop as Amy, Rally, Tally, and Yugi hold each other's hands... they're all nervous about what's about to happen. Cassie: Twelve votes were cast, but a person only needs to gather the most votes to be the winner. Let's count the votes! On the big screen, a coin will appear next to each person's name for every vote they receive. Cassie: First vote goes to... Yugi. As a coin pops up next to Yugi's name, his friends and family cheer him on. Cassie: The second vote... belongs to Amy. Amy's friends and family begins to cheer excitedly. Cassie: Hmmmm... make it two for Amy. Amy starts to smile as the cheers for her get louder. Cassie: And... we've got one for Rally. Suddenly, the Rally congregation of fans comes to life, excited for her. Cassie: (smiles) It always turns out this way, doesn't it? Tally, one vote for you! Tally has the smallest fandom out of the finalists, but it's still a pretty decent chunk of the crowd that cheers her on. Cassie: Another for Rally. Halfway home... two for Rally and Amy, one for Tally and Yugi. As Rally's fans cheer again, Cassie draws another virtual vote. Cassie: Yugi. That's two for the Duelist Kingdom champion. Yugi's friends and family get even louder, upping the decibel level in the building. Cassie: One more for Amy. Back to the 'Sailor Moon' fans cheering... Cassie: And one more for Rally. And then to the 'Gunsmith Cats' fans. Cassie: Three apiece for Amy and Rally, two for Yugi, and one for Tally. Three to go... the next vote goes to... Amy. Amy is now getting excited as Rally gets nervous... Yugi and Tally are out of the running, but they anxiously wonder who the winner is. Cassie: Vote number eleven... Cassie checks the vote and smiles. Cassie: And the winner of the third season of Roomies... is Sailor Moon's own resident genius, Amy Mizuno! Amy's mouth is gaping wide open as Rally leans in to give her a well-deserved hug. Yugi and Tally do the same, followed by most of the rest of the Roomies... those who don't offer a simple handshake, but a thankful one nevertheless. Meanwhile, Amy's fans are going crazy, including all of her fellow Sailor Scouts, who are sitting in the second row from the front. Lita: Alright Amy! Mina: I knew you could do it! Raye: Good going, Amy! Serena: That's our girl! Yeah Amy! The final vote tally, as votes eleven and twelve (the twelfth being unnecessary), is: Amy 6, Rally 3, Yugi 2, and Tally 1. Balloons come down from the ceiling as the celebration seems to continue for several minutes. Amy comes out to center stage to blow kisses and bow to her adoring public. Cassie: Looks like we'll have to take a break for this to sink in and to get time to calm everyone down! We'll be right back! As we go to break, Amy continues to accept congratulations from her adoring public, who seems to be greatly happy that she won. ****** When we come back, the audience has calmed down enough for the show to continue, though there is still a lot of cheering and chants of 'Amy! Amy! Amy!' going on. Cassie: Welcome back everyone! For three months, these fifteen Roomies have kept secrets about what really happened to them in the Digital World. We've only got half an hour, but hopefully everyone here will get a chance to talk. Shoot to the sixteen seats where the Roomies are positioned in rows of seven, five, and the finalists in the front row. One seat to the far left of the back row is empty. Cassie: You're wondering why I said fifteen instead of sixteen. Well, one of our Roomies, 'Bandit' Keith Howard, declined our invitation to come to the reunion. Sorry to all the Keith fans out there, but he didn't want to reunite with the cast. Although there are general cries of 'Boo!,' 'Chicken!,' and other things that we probably can't print in this fic, there are a few, and I stress, a few cheers. Cassie: Oh well... we can still live with fifteen. We'll start with the back row and make our way up. We'll start with the oldest of the Roomies this season, but he was still one of the strongest... Jet Black! Jet gets a huge amount of applause as he decides to wave while sitting down. Cassie: She was the woman who made everyone work... Haruka Urashima! Haruka is applauded by everyone, particularly the coveted 18-49 male demographic, for varying reasons. Some of the 'Love Hina' cast is there, including Haruka's nephew Keitaro, as well as Naru and Mitsune. Cassie: He looks great no matter what he wears... James Morgan! The Team Rocket fanatics are out in full force, who somehow got in even though there was not a real Rocket member in the house... Jessie and Meowth had skipped out on attending. Cassie: Better watch your money around this girl... Nabiki Tendo! Nabiki gets the first real mix of cheers and boos, depending on which section of the auditorium you are looking at. As usual, it's the teenage males that are the loudest, as they cheer for all of the females anyway. Cassie: He's the solemn one of the Gundam pilots... Trowa Barton! This time, it's the fangirls that erupt with glee. There seem to be a lot of signs that read 'I would have voted for Trowa!' in the audience. Says something to the other Roomies, doesn't it? Cassie: Voted the most popular this season... Whitney Emerson! If she's the most popular, the crowd noise doesn't show it. It's very loud thanks to all of her fans, both male and female, but it doesn't match up to the cheers that Rally and Amy Mizuno got earlier. Cassie: To the middle row, and the first non-human to play the game of Roomies... Amy Rose! For the first time, there's a competitor that fits the furry fan, who are also out in full force, cheering Amy on... as well as all of the Freedom Fighters, especially Sonic and Tails. Cassie: He's the fighter in the group... Yusuke Urameshi! Yusuke gets the loudest response out of all of the male competitors, yet it's the males in the audience who are booing him. The females, on the other hand, are swooning. Cassie: You know him as the kid that can change into a Digimon... Takuya Kanbara! Surprisingly, the cheers for Takuya are subduing. There's barely any booing, but he's not getting much applause either, other than from friends and family. Cassie: The first Saiyan ever in Roomies... Trunks Briefs! Trunks also gets a modest amount of cheering... it seems more people prefer his teenage form from the future. Cassie: She's the youngest of the Sailor Scouts... Rini Tsukino! Once again, the 'Sailor Moon' fans come to life for Rini. The cheers are slightly subdued from what Amy got, but they're still pretty loud. Cassie: And, of course, there's the Final Four. We start with the mastermind behind the Adult Alliance... Tally Onodera! Tally's fans start to cheer, louder than before, to show that they are there. Cassie: The only male among the finalists and the biggest money winner this season... Yugi Mutou! Yugi's friends and family lead the cheers for Yugi, also louder than before. Cassie: This season's runner-up is our toughest yet... Rally Vincent! Rally watches as the auditorium explodes with cheers and all the sort. Cassie: And, naturally, we finish with this season's winner... Amy Mizuno! The cheers are through the roof as Amy stands up to take another bow. She then quickly sits down so that the show can stay on schedule. Cassie: Well, Amy... has it sunk in yet? You've just won Roomies! Amy M.: (as some fans yell in the background) I never thought I would be the winner! The competition was very tough. Rally, Tally, and Yugi all in their own ways were just as deserving to win. Cassie: Six hundred ninety-eight thousand, three hundred and thirty-three dollars. That's just a mouthful saying it. Plus, you won that home theater system while in the Digital World. What are you going to do with it all? Amy M.: Well, first off, I'll set aside a good chunk of it for college. After all, it costs a lot to go to school to become a pediatrician. Cassie: I'll say. And the rest? Amy M.: I'm not sure yet. I'm sure my friends and I can figure out a way to spend it all. Cassie: This year's Final Four broke all the records we had last year. Average amount of money between the finalists was $657,500, $35,000 more than last year's crew. Amy, you're taking home $698,333, which is just over $43,000 more than what Duo Maxwell, last year's winner take home. And Yugi, who earned an even $700,000... that was a scant $5,000 more than the biggest money winner last year, Kiyone Makibi. A lot more money was earned this time around. Amy M.: I think it has a lot to do with the types of challenges we faced. There were a lot of chances to win money, and a number of us took advantage of it. Cassie: Rally... you okay with second place? Rally: No one's okay with second place if you've got a chance to win. Still, Amy had a whole lot more going for her. I'm glad she won, because she's the one who deserved it the most. Cassie: Yugi... surprised you were in the Final Four at all? Yugi: Not really. When you have as much faith as I do, you don't worry much at all. Still, it took a lot more faith than I had to win this game. Cassie: And Tally... you constructed the Adult Alliance, saw it break apart in your hands, and then manage your way to a fourth-place finish. How? Tally: I never gave up. I continued to play the game, hoping that my own personality would set me apart from Haruka and Jet and easily get me in. (to Haruka and Jet) No offense. Jet: None taken. Haruka: We don't mind. You did what you had to do. Cassie: I don't remember if I asked this to last season's finalists, but I will ask you... if there was one person who you could pick to take your spot in the Final Four, who would it be? Let's go down the line starting with Tally... Tally: Hard one. I'd have to say Takuya. He stuck with me even when I lost his trust. That's dedication... or stubbornness, depending on who you ask. Takuya: (as everyone laughs) I don't care. I stayed with her because she still had the ability to get to the Final Four. And she did, even though she didn't bring me with her. Cassie: (laughs) Yugi? Yugi: Whitney. She did a lot for me to make things in the Digital World more comfortable. Yusuke: Okay... is she allowed to elaborate on that? Whitney: (as more laughing ensues) Not that way! Cassie: Rally? Rally: Yusuke. Yusuke: Me? Really? You're not just saying that, are you? Rally: No. You didn't want to be there, yet you worked hard anyway. You tried to win every challenge, get ahead of the game, and you made good friends with Trunks and Yusuke. Yusuke: Whitney and I are not good friends! Cassie: Are you sure? Whitney: Definitely! Cassie: (snickers) We'll see if we can change your minds in a minute, but first we need to hear Amy's response. Amy M.: I would've picked Jet, because he did anything and everything that was expected of him. He never complained, he worked hard, and he probably should be here instead of me. So, Jet's my pick. Jet: Don't flatter yourself, Amy! Every vote that you got, you earned, and that's why you won! There's no way anyone up here, including the other Final Four members, could have replaced you. The audience agrees with Jet, applauding loudly as Amy blushes. Cassie: Let's get back to Whitney and Yusuke, because you two provided the best on-and-off rivalry during the game. Takuya: And some of the best arguments too. Cassie: Why couldn't the two of you get along with each other? Yusuke: (points at Whitney) She's bossy and dumb! Whitney: (points at Yusuke) He's arrogant and hot-tempered! Yusuke: Arrogant? Whitney: Dumb? Rally: Will you two stop it? You're making a scene! Cassie: I guess the answer to this one's pretty obvious... but have you guys forgiven each other for all of the arguments you had? Yusuke: Why? She wouldn't believe me even if I did apologize for everything. Whitney: That's not true! I forgive everyone! Yusuke: You didn't forgive me! Whitney: You're like James... insignificant to me. James: What did you just call me? Yusuke: She said insignificant, as in you and me don't matter to her at all! Cassie: Okay, one more quick question, and this goes to Rally, who, if you all remember, threatened to shoot these two with a toy gun if they didn't stop arguing. The question is... what were you thinking, girl? Rally: We had already tried everything non-violent and non-threatening. I decided to up the ante. Cassie: And in retrospect, it nearly got you kicked off the show. Yusuke: I think it worked to some extent. If not for Rally, I probably would have blasted Whitney with my Spirit Gun right there and then. Whitney: You're still sore over the whole accident where I shot you in the head, aren't you? Yusuke: I can't believe you still think that was an accident! Cassie: (as the duo continues to argue) Coming up in the next segment... who voted for whom in the Final Four vote? Where was the love, and was there any at all? That and more when we return! Yusuke: You're asking for it! Whitney: Don't make me get Milty out! Rally: If you two don't shut up, I'll threaten you will a real gun! Cassie: (sweatdrops) If no one's dead by the time we get back... ====== [The money totals, from highest to lowest: - Yugi Mutou: $700,000 - *Amy Mizuno: $698,333* - Tally Onodera: $633,333 - Rally Vincent: $598,333 - Takuya Kanbara: $583,333 - Rini Tsukino: $570,000 - Amy Rose: $533,333 - Yusuke Urameshi: $515,000 - James Morgan: $510,000 - Keith Howard: $470,000 - Jet Black: $410,000 - Trunks Briefs: $400,000 - Trowa Barton: $383,333 - Nabiki Tendo: $340,000 - Whitney Emerson: $340,000 - Haruka Urashima: $215,000] ****** Returning from the break, we check in on the Shinjuku government building, where many of the Hypnos crew, including Yamaki and Riley, are watching the Reunion Special from work. In the auditorium, Tally waves back to all of her fellow co-workers. She's able to... because Yusuke and Whitney have managed to calm down before things got really rough. Cassie: That's a look at all of Tally's coworkers, who were too busy working on some top secret project to join us. If they're so busy, then how can they be watching us? Tally: Trust me... they have their reasons. Cassie: Ah... now that things have calmed down again, let's move on! Final Four votes. As there was in past seasons, there always seems to be some weird quirks in terms of who people voted for. Amy M.: What do you mean? Cassie: Well, a good number of you had certain people you had to vote for because you were in alliances. Some of you didn't, though, and you threw your votes to some strange places. (smiles) James... James: What? Why are you picking on me? Cassie: Let's see... according to the voting records, here's who you voted for. Yugi, whom we saw in the final episode earlier, you committed to voting for. Whitney, who's a little more suspect but that the vote was out of show loyalty. Then there's the other two votes... which went to Jet and Yusuke. Why? Yusuke: Why does everything involving me require an explanation? Cassie: (putting her hand up) Chill! We'll get to you in a sec. James? James: You always have to vote for the people you know can beat you up. Trunks: Then why didn't you vote for me? James: (scratches his head) Why didn't I think of that? (now scared) Please don't beat me up! I would've voted for you if I had remembered! Jet: You really were intimidated by me, James? Amy R.: I was at first, too. It's because you're so big! Rally: Plus, that bionic arm of yours doesn't exactly project a friendly image. Yusuke: If James was scared of me, how come nobody else was? Haruka: Because we're all not chickens like him. James: I'll be a chicken anyday if it keeps me from being beaten up! Cassie: Yusuke, let's stay with you for a second, 'cause there's one vote that really surprised me and I'm sure will shock everyone else. Yusuke: I don't want to talk about it! Cassie: You mean you don't want to talk about voting for Whitney? Trunks: You voted for Whitney? Whitney: You voted for me? Rally: That just came clear out of left field! There's no way I heard that! Cassie: It's true... it's in the records. So, Yusuke... why? Yusuke: It was one of those pity vote things, okay? I felt sorry for her, so I threw her a vote! Happy? Whitney: That explains that one mysterious vote, because I knew Nabiki and Yugi would vote for me, and there was a chance James would too. But you were the last person I expected to get a vote from. Yusuke: It's not like things would've changed had I given that vote to somebody else. Whitney: Looks like Yusuke's got a soft side after all. Yusuke: Don't you dare tell anyone that! You'll be sorry! Cassie: I think we all already know about your soft side, Yusuke. People do have Cartoon Network, you know. Anyway, let's see... ah, how about Trunks. You voted for Amy Mizuno and Rally, as well as Jet and Yusuke. Any particular reason why? Trunks: Well, Yusuke and I continually debated about whether to bring Rally into our alliance, so I thought, there must be something special about her. As for Amy... well, she's so smart that she kinda reminds me of my mom. Cassie: Isn't that sweet? Trunks: (blushes) Uh... yeah. Cassie: Let's see, what about the grand prize vote? A lot of the votes look expected... except for Yusuke's. Hmmmm... Tally: Yusuke, the mysterious one. Yusuke: Give me a break! Cassie: The only one of the Final Four members you voted in was Rally, yet when it came to this deciding vote, you selected Amy as the winner. Yusuke: I owed her after thinking she was the one who ripped my shirt! You know, the one that James confessed to tearing to shreds! James: I apologized for that already! What more do you want? Cassie: Just admit it... you voted for Whitney and then Amy because you know they deserved it. Yusuke: So? What if I did? Whitney: You're a softie after all! Amy M.: Wow... thanks for voting for me, Yusuke. Yusuke: Stop it, you two! You're going to make me blush! Cassie: (throws out an index card) And there goes my segway to the next part. As you fans might have guessed, we're moving into the talk about relationships. Thankfully, though we may be skeptical after the past few minutes, none of it involves Whitney and Yusuke together. Whitney: As if! Yusuke: I've already got a girlfriend, alright! Amy R.: It didn't stop you from looking at those girls when we had our relatives over. Cassie: Too true, too true. But since Yusuke was never in a on-show relationship, we move over to Whitney... who has been speculated of being in several. Whitney: Do I look like that type of person to you? Rally: Trust me... you get used to it after awhile. Just ignore it. Cassie: The most prominent pairing of them all... Whitney and Yugi. Whitney: We just liked working together. Yugi: Yeah. Whitney's very nice to be around. Cassie: That's all? Just nice? Yugi: We were just friends. We didn't like each other that way! Whitney: I agree. He's so much younger than I am! Cassie: Okay, but Trowa was a year closer. In fact, Trowa was speculated to be with Haruka and Nabiki as well... though not all at the same time. Trowa: I don't go around dating girls like that. Haruka: He's too young for me. Whitney: We were just alliance partners, albeit briefly. Nabiki: How can he have loved me if he never trusted me? Amy R.: Who came up with these suggested romances anyway? Cassie: (shrugs her shoulders) Not me. There was only one other major coupling, and that occured mainly in the first half of the game... Amy and Takuya. Takuya: We were just hanging out by the pool! Amy M.: I wanted some company. After all, that was around the time where we had been moved to get away from the Digimon attacks. Cassie: From the pool incident to working together to get rid of the early Digimon disturbances... you two were always alongside each other. Takuya: We're superheroes! We're supposed to protect innocent lives! Amy M.: Besides, Takuya's not my type anyway. Takuya: Yeah. We don't have that much in common. Cassie: Hmmm... so I guess that means that there weren't any real relationships this season. Tally: Nope. No cute young couple like Mondo and Jeri, or sweet couple like Duo and Melfina. Cassie: Oh wait... I missed one! Jet and Haruka. Jet: What? You're just joking, right? Haruka: We just talked a lot because we were the oldest ones there. Jet: Every time someone tried to talk to us, it was about the game. At least with Haruka, I was able to get my mind off of it for awhile. Yusuke: (snickers) I think I know where his mind went. Suddenly, a pot comes flying out of nowhere and hits Yusuke in the head. Yusuke: Hey... I thought there weren't any weapons allowed on stage! Cassie: Can't help it if she had it stored in mallet space. Yusuke: But it wasn't even a mallet! Cassie: (checks her notes) Is that all? I think I covered them all. If anyone thinks of anymore, let me know. Anyway... in the next segment, Amy Rose is the first non-human to participate in the game. We'll get her reaction about that. We'll also look at some of the major alliances. And, there's a few e-mail questions from the fans that we're going to answer! Nabiki: Are we getting paid to respond to fan mail? Cassie: Don't worry about it... no one wanted to ask you anything. Rally: This better not be as perverted as this segment was. James: How could it be? Nobody did anything wrong! Trowa: You're completely brainless, aren't you? Cassie: (sighs) Well, as we go to break... Rally's from America, and so not many of her relatives could make the trip to Tokyo... so here they are from her apartment! Rally: What? Did Minnie-May invite them over? Cassie: How should I know? Anyway, there are Rally's fans from Chicago! We'll be right back after this short break! ****** [Selected Results from the Roomies 3 Poll] Who is your favorite character of Roomies 3? - Rally Vincent: 25% - Whitney Emerson: 25% - 4 tied at: 12.5% Which four contestants will make the Final 4? Despite not having as much participation in the polls as we had last season, we got some interesting numbers. The one I want to point out is whom everyone thought would make the Final Four. As you see, up in third, we have Amy Rose. Amy R.: I can't believe so many people wanted me in the Final Four! Cassie: Just to note... Amy earned $533,333, which is a nice chunk of change. That was good enough for seventh best overall. Now, Amy has a special distinction this season. She was the first non-human to compete on Roomies. Tell me... were you scared when you met everyone for the first time? Amy R.: A little bit. You see, where I come from, humans are called Overlanders. There have been a lot of events and wars in the past that pitted the furries against the humans. Thankfully, things between us are more peaceful, for the most part. I was hoping that everyone here would respect me. Cassie: Do you think everyone did? Amy R.: Yes, definitely! Everyone was so kind to me! At first I thought it was an act, but then when I got to know people, I started to feel more comfortable. Cassie: Do you believe any of the challenges were biased against you? Amy R.: Well, not against me specifically, but there were a few. Like the second challenge, the one where we had to hang on while being stretched? Cassie: Yeah, that one was biased against the shorter competitors. Trunks: They really should have a challenge where the taller people are at a disadvantage. Cassie: Who knows? There could be one next season. Rini... you spent a lot of time with Amy. Enjoy it? Rini: Yeah! Amy may be a hedgehog, but she's just like me... a regular girl who wants to play and eat sweets and all that good stuff. Amy R.: (giggles) We've been keeping in touch since the show ended. We've had a couple of playdates. Rini: They went well, too! Amy's great to be around! Cassie: Since we're on you, Rini, let's move into our alliance portion of the show. You weren't really a major player in this until the second half of the game. Why's that? Rini: No one approached me about it. With Amy, that's the Amy from my show, she didn't want to jump into it right away. As for everyone else... well, nobody asked. Cassie: It never dawned on you and Amy Rose to form an alliance? Amy R.: Nope. We were having too much fun playing together. Rini: We never thought of each other as being alliance partners. Cassie: Well, we did have someone who wanted to be in an alliance no matter what. Isn't that right... Nabiki? Nabiki: I was doing what I thought was needed to get into the Final Four. Cassie: Now that you've seen the show... and I'm hoping you have, because the show was still taping while the first four or five episodses aired, would you have changed part or all of your strategy. Nabiki: No. Definitely not. Cassie: You formed an alliance with Yusuke and Trunks... you were kicked out of it. You were in one with Trowa... he kicked you out. You were in one with the Adult Alliance core members... you betrayed them. And then you worked with Bandit Keith... who could have caused you physical harm. Nabiki: I would've changed who I partnered up with. Cassie: Surprisingly, the one person everyone thought you would form an alliance with, Whitney, was not brought up until right at the very end of the game. Whitney: Well, as roommate challenge teammates, we weren't good. I think we came in last in that category. Nabiki: Besides, Whitney dealt way too much with Yusuke, and I didn't want to get dragged into that whole thing. Yusuke: That makes two of us. Cassie: Yusuke and Trunks, you two formed the game's first alliance... and the only one that lasted for the entire game. What was the secret to that? Yusuke: We were the fighters. We liked sparring with each other. Trunks: We had similar goals and we know what we wanted out of the game and out of each other. And we knew that we could depend on each other too. Cassie: You two tried expansion several times. You brought Nabiki in after you caught her spying on one of your sparring sessions. Nabiki: I wasn't spying! I just wandered in, that's all! Cassie: Then, when Keith was dropped out of the Adult Alliance, he came to you for help in destroying them. Trunks: We never should have trusted him. Yusuke: Yeah. He was bad news. Cassie: And during that time, you also debated adding Rally to the team, but in the end, you never did. Why not? Yusuke: We weren't sure if she would want to work with us. Trunks: After all, he was closer to Jet. Yusuke: Although it would have been nice to have her... Rally: See, that's the only thing that kept me from joining them. Yusuke. Yusuke: What? Rally: You said it would be 'nice to have me.' And this coming from a guy who already has a girlfriend... Yusuke: It's not like it was going to be anything serious! Whitney: With Keiko in the audience, it had better not have been. Yusuke: I didn't ask for your opinion, Whitney! Cassie: (coughs) Ahem. Do we have to resort to separating you two? Anyway... speaking of separating, what about the juggernaut that was the Adult Alliance? Would any of the core members like to talk about that? Tally: It was my idea to bring in the four oldest people in the game to work together. That was my first mistake... because that included Bandit Keith. And because of Keith, that resulted in my second mistake... branching out to so many people to help us. Cassie: Just for the confused and forgetful out there, remind us of that plan. Jet: It was simple. We started with the four core members: myself, Tally, Haruka, and Keith. We would then double the group with each of our roommate partners: Rini, Yusuke, Amy, and James. But that's when it got out of control, because some of them were already in other alliances, and so were some of us... Haruka: So then we had to figure out how to bring them into the fold. Tally: The plan was that for everyone outside the alliance, they promise to vote for us in the end. It was made simpler when Bandit Keith 'left,' because then that left each of our prospectees with a free vote to throw anywhere they pleased. Cassie: So... was there anyone you were definitely going to keep out of the alliance? Tally: No one specifically, but there was no way realistically that we could have everyone. Besides, how is it an alliance if everyone is in it? Cassie: If you knew Keith would be so detrimental in the alliance's destruction, who would you have picked in his place? Jet: I would've gone with Rally. Haruka: I agree. Tally: We thought Rally was the most mature, so she was our next pick. We also considered Whitney, as well Trowa, in order to keep an even gender team. Cassie: Now, because of the Adult Alliance's collapse, a few other minor pairings, some which had just been formed days before that happened, also ceased to exist. Trowa, as I mentioned earlier, while you were still with Nabiki, you had formed a secret alliance with Haruka. Trowa: I did it because I thought she had a good feel of the game and how to go about getting to the Final Four. Cassie: And right after you broke off with Nabiki, you courted Whitney, so to speak, to an alliance. You then brought Whitney and Haruka together just prior to the Adult Alliance's break-up. Trowa: I picked Whitney to ally with because I thought she had connections with many of the other people, and so, I wanted to take advantage of that. Nabiki: Advantage? Yusuke: What's that supposed to mean? Whitney: (rolls her eyes) You people have some dirty thoughts. Cassie: We also had one that was based on show loyalty... James and Whitney. Whitney: That's all that was! Normally, I would never work with him because he's a bad guy. James: And I'd never work full-time with her because she's a goody-goody! Cassie: I could only imagine what that alliance would have been like, because it was formed the day before the AA's collapse. Speaking of short alliances, we also had an American alliance with Keith and Rally. Rally: Worst decision I ever made in the game! Cassie: Care to explain? Rally: Keith's a total jerk! He didn't want to win the game by the rules. Plus, he wanted me around just to look at me! Cassie: You never thought, 'hey, we're Americans! We can beat all of these Japanese players!'? Rally: No! Of course not! That's two against fourteen! Even for me, that's a lot to go up against at once. Amy M.: You could have taken us one at a time? Trowa: But we would have caught on to their plan before long. Rally: Exactly! Why try something that has no chance of succeeding? If there were a slim chance, I would have tried it, but there wasn't. Cassie: One more alliance, going back to show loyalty... the 'Digimon' players. Tally and Takuya, you're from two different versions of the show, yet you managed to work well together to a degree. What made you two come together? Takuya: Searching for a partner. When no one wants to work with you, you have to fall back on people from your own series... or a version of your own series. Tally: I wanted something to fall back on in case the Adult Alliance imploded... which it eventually did. But then I almost lost Takuya too, because I hadn't told him about the alliance yet. Cassie: So, after the AA was gone, what did it take for it to click in both of your brains that you had to get back together? Takuya: Like I said... I needed someone to work with. Tally: For me, it was when I realized that I wouldn't get to the Final Four unless I had help. That, and I thought that I needed to forgive Takuya for betraying him. Cassie: And as a result, you ended up teaming with the two 'Sailor Moon' reps, which resulted in both Amy and Tally making the finals. (puts a hand up to her ear) I'm getting word that we're running out of time, so I'm quickly going to go to the viewer e-mail questions and see how many we can get through. Cassie types away at the laptop to get the list of questions. Cassie: Let's see... Ryan MacDonald asks this question to Takuya: Since you've spent a lot of time in the Digital World, why do you think that the Digimon kept attacking you and the other roomies for so long? Takuya: He's asking me that? Wouldn't that be more suited to Yugi? Cassie: Well, it says you. Yugi: I'm not exactly sure when Marik took over all of the animals. It could have happened anytime. Takuya: It could have something to deal with how Digimon act normally. Maybe at first they felt threatened by having humans live with them. And then, like Yugi said, Marik came in somewhere and just intensified that hate. Tally: I'm just surprised that they stopped completely... well, almost completely, after Marik was taken care of. Cassie: Okay. This next one comes from Muka and is for Yugi. How did you get your Yami to stay in the puzzle during the games? Why did you keep your Yami in the puzzle during the games when you know that you can win with the help from Yami Yugi? Yugi: (scratches his chin) Gee... I don't know how to answer that one either. I felt it was weird that Yami didn't come out except on one or two occasions. Amy M.: Didn't Tenchi say that Washu had built a device to keep out spirits and such? Trunks: I thought that was after we got rid of Marik. Amy M.: No. There was one in place beforehand, but it wasn't strong enough to keep Marik out. The replacement was strong enough. Rally: Let me just say that I'm glad Marik hasn't been able to interfere tonight either! Cassie: Definitely. That would have been a bummer. Yugi: If that was the case, then how did Yami come out in those challenges that he did? Some kind of fluke or flaw in the barrier? Whitney: We'll never know unless Tenchi or someone came out to explain it. Cassie: I wish I could, but I don't know anything about the barrier myself. Let's see... one more quick one from Digifan. She asks: Were you going to hurt Whitney and Yuskue with your gun? This one, of course, is going to Rally. Rally: I wasn't really going to hurt them. It was a toy gun, anyway! Yusuke: That reminds me... what does it take to get kicked off a reality show anyway? Cassie: Why do you want to know that? Yusuke: Just in case Kuwabara decides to try out for. It would be funny to see him goof up and get kicked out. Tally: That's not a very nice thing to say about a friend. Yusuke: Come on! It's just for kicks! No one's really gonna get hurt. Cassie: I'm glad I only do the Reunion Specials, not the Casting Specials. Um... we're out of time, and, as usual, the winner gets the last word from the competitors. Amy? Amy M.: Bandit Keith, I hope you're watching out there! You weren't exactly enjoyable to live and compete with, but we all agree that you should have a chance to explain yourself. We just wish you were here to take advantage of that opportunity. Cassie: Totally surprised me there, reaching out to Keith like that. Amy M.: I feel I had to. He was there too and shared the same experiences. I'm sure everyone wanted to hear about his time in the Digital World. Cassie: We're out of time! For all of the Roomies crew, including our winner Amy Mizuno and the entire competing cast, as well as the host of our show, Tenchi Masaki, who couldn't attend tonight because of other TV commitments, I'm Cassie Banks! Until next time... see ya! As the ending credits roll, Cassie joins the Roomies as they begin to mingle on stage. Family and friends head up on stage, as we focus on the 'Sailor Moon' cast, which has come up to congratulate Amy on her win. ================== End of Roomies 3: Digital Frontier ================== ======================= Additional Author's Notes ====================== The taping of the Reunion Special is noted as May 20th because, if I had stayed on schedule, that would have been the date it would have aired. So, it's not exactly live, per se. As you notice, a number of the money amounts are not good, easy numbers to remember. That's because some people shared positions in the last two roommate challenges, and that required the amount of money awarded to be split. That resulted in some of those weird money totals you saw. The three people that got their questions in were the only three who asked any, though two of them had more than one. This, plus the number of people who took the poll, shows how much this series has dwindled in popularity since last season. Or maybe, just like me, you're reading this several weeks later than the first posting because you're behind in reading all of your fanfics. Amy Mizuno... nice choice, fans. She was one of my picks to be winner. She makes the second Sailor Scout to win a reality series, behind Mina Aino, aka Sailor Venus, who won 'Anime Survivor 4.' Amy also had a shot at winning 'Anime and Video Game Survivor 2' earlier this year... maybe a lot of you thought she was deserving of finally winning a show. Um... the deal about Keith not attending the Reunion Special was a last-minute idea. As you saw in Episode 18, Keith was pissed off after being screwed over by the Roomies, particularly Yusuke in the end, and so, he decided not to join us. Sorry if I disappointed any of the Bandit Keith fans by keeping him out. I guess the lack of buzz to this season's end compared to last season's is also why this Reunion Special was also more subdued than last year. It also helped that it was a shorter show this time around. Now, here the question you've all been wanting me to answer... Will there be a Roomies 4? Yes... And no. Yes, because it's in the 'currently taping' phase. A cast of twelve has already been selected, as well as a location and a theme. I'm already planning out challenges accordingly and making weather recordings, since it will be back in the Digital World. They are all already competing in challenges... in fact, as of this writing, they are almost halfway through the game already. So why did I also say 'no?' I'm not sure if I'm going to go through and write it. I'm already getting tired of writing the 'Roomies' reality series. It's not that I've exhausted my options for challenges and locations. It's just that it's getting a pain to write this week in and week out. And my philosophy, just like so many other fanfic authors, is that fanfic writing is a hobby, not a job. If it turns into a job, it's time to get out of it. So right now, whether or not I will do Roomies 4 is up in the air. If I do decide to write it, expect a premiere date right around Thanksgiving at the earliest. If not... well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. This may be the series' swansong, but regardless of whether it is or not, I hope those of you still reading the series enjoyed it! Don't forget to review on the way out, and check out some of my other fanfics, including another reality fanfic series, 'The Animated Amazing Race.' See ya!
